Highlights from the January Quarterly Council Meeting
In 2021, the MHC released a Regional Housing Implementation Plan that went beyond a traditional inventory of housing actions to include a blueprint for how a regional community like ours can work in coordination and alongside housing developers and jurisdictions.

HOUSING ACTION

Truckee Tahoe Workforce Housing Agency Announces New Strategic Direction
The Truckee Tahoe Workforce Housing Agency (TTWHA) Board of Directors approved a five-year strategic plan on January 18, 2023. The Plan outlines a strategy to expand beyond TTWHA ‘s member agencies to better meet the needs of the greater Tahoe Truckee workforce and to create a new nonprofit workforce housing fund. Read the full strategic plan here.

Tahoe Basin Area Plan Workshop March 9
Placer County is hosting a workshop on March 9th from 4-6 PM at the North Tahoe Event Center to discuss the proposed Tahoe Basin Area Plan Economic Sustainability and Housing Amendments.  Read more about the Tahoe Basin Area Plan here.

Additional Funding for the Workforce Housing Preservation Program
Placer County Board of Supervisors voted to approve the expenditure of $600K into the Workforce Housing Preservation Program (an increase of $100K from 2021) at its meeting on February 14th. View the full meeting recording here.

The Short-Term Rental Workforce Housing Token Program Guidelines
The Town of Truckee is developing a new housing program that will offer a limited number of short-term rental opportunities as an incentive for developing workforce housing units. Staff expects to bring guidelines to the Town Council for review as early as February 28. Read the program overview here.   

Truckee Home Access Program Guideline Revision Allows Layering with Martis Fund Homebuyer Assistance Program
Layering the Truckee Home Access Program and Martis Fund Homebuyer Assistance Program will provide additional financial assistance for homebuyers below 180% area median income. This will enable buyers to purchase a home in Truckee, preserving workforce housing in the town. Read more about the Guidelines Revision here.
